My wife and I had her when we were young. But as we helped her grow, she helped US grow as well.

One small thing can make all the difference in a day.
I was having kind of a crappy day. Work pretty much sucked today. Lots of aggrevation, hassles, and problems. Just "one of those days" that nothing went right.
So, I'm now home and I'm sitting here in my den and my daughter (19 years old) comes home from her job, comes into my den and surprises me with a beautiful brand new pipe. Even better, it's a Meerchaum.
I asked her, what's the occasion? She said "no reason, just 'cause I love you".
It made me think. All the struggles, all the sacrifice we parents make for our kids.........It's worth it!!!!
Suddenly, the day doesn't seem so bad, and all the troubles of life seem so small right now.
Just wanted to share this.

I remember back in the late 70's when the US tried to rescue the hostages being held in Iran. The rescue Helicopters collided and crashed before the rescue. The buzz around the congregations in our area was that Watchtower prophecy was being fulfilled. They were quoting some pages out of some out-of-print Watchtower book which I can't remember the name of at this time. (your word is a lamp???...I can't remember if that was the book or not). I remember reading the pages and still couldn't make the connection.
But, it was proof enough that Armageddon was Right around the corner, and just seconds away on Jehovah's clock.

WTF? That's not news, that's just fear mongering. I used to thing that the news was just supposed to report the news, not speculate on what could happen based on past events. Why are they exploiting past tragedies and using peoples fears just for ratings?
I can't stand watching the news anymore.

NOSTALGIA TIME !! Anyone remember the old "t.v. westerns" era?
by hubert ini was reading the post on "old radio" shows, and it brought to mind the old westerns that flooded the t.v.
stations back in the 50's.. i remember the first day we had a t.v.
installed, my sister and i were outside, and saw the "new" antenna on top of our roof, and ran in to watch the "new" black and white t.v., and enjoyed shows like milton berle, howdy doody, and others my memory forgot.

Opie Ron Howard.. What was the name of that show?..and the sheriff father why can't I remember his name.
Lucy's sideckick was Ethel Mertz - Played by Vivian Vance.
Opie - Played on the Andy Griffith Show. His father's character's name was Andy Taylor. And who could forget Aunt Bea. (Oh Andy!)

Why do many religious people dislike non-religious people?
by Elsewhere ini've noticed that usually when someone who is very religious finds out that i am an atheist, they become very agitated even though i never actually said anything negative about their religion.. are they embarrassed?.
do they think i am condemning them?.
do they see me as a threat?.

People are religious because they believe they are going to get something out of it. Association with you could jeopardize that.

I could never understand why a lot (not all) of religious people claim that if they go to church and become born-again, they will go to Heaven when they die and have a Mansion in Heaven and all that. Also, they believe that whatever they give to the Church, God will give back 10 Fold, Measured Out, Tamped Down.
Always sounded Materialistic to me. It always made me wonder, are they going to church just to get these things, or are they going there to worship God?

you could buy the screen cover from the show and use your crayons to help make a bridge or something so that the hero INKY could get out of trouble
Owww!!! Repressed Memory!!!!!!! I had crayons, but not the Screen Cover.
